Description
The ED-40 is 40 metre band wire dipole with an open feed that is designed to be used anywhere from a flat dipole to an inverted ‘V’. This leaves it easier to tune on other bands.
As with any flat half wave dipole, the feed point is about 72 Ohms. Therefore , if you can run it as an inverted ‘V’ the feed point will be closer to 50 Ohms and will show a better VSWR. Theory suggests the best angle for omni directional radiation will be between 90 and 120 degrees. Lowering the elements will also lower the frequency a little bit, but the ends have been left open for you to adjust the antenna to your needed portion of the band. The antenna should still be better than 1.5 to 1 at the tuned frequency.
